Imperialism







- Monroe Doctrine: a U.S. foreign policy regarding European countries in 1823. It stated that further efforts by European nations to colonize land or interfere with states in North or South America would be viewed as acts of aggression, requiring U.S. intervention.








-Spanish American War: started in 1898, war
between the U.S and Spain which originated from the Cuban struggle for independence from spain. The treaty of Paris was signed and ended the war in 1901

Roosevelt Corollary:a rule made by president
 Roosevelt that prevents European intervention
 in the Western Hemisphere but still allowed American intervention in the Western
Hemisphere















-Panama Canal: a 50 mile canal made by the U.S in order
to connect the two ocean (The Atlantic Ocean and the
Pacific Ocean) in order to have a water route between
the two oceans















Santa Anna and Mexico:  was an officer/statesman whowas the storm centre of events like the Texas
Revolution and the Mexican American War


















Benito Juarez: a mexican lawyer who also served
as the president of Mexico for 5 terms and also as a consitutional president. He was also a politician



















Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata: Pancho was a Mexican
